National 4 and National 5 Graphic Communication
The Course is comprised of two units, namely;
In addition to the units above, pupils will undertake an Added Value unit in the National 4 course and an Assignment in the National 5 course.
The Assignment in the National 5 Course is worth 33% of the course award in the subject.
Layers in CAD
Animation and Simulation
In this unit of the course, pupils are taught how to sketch and draw a range of different orthographic views including sections, geometric forms and building drawings. Drawings will be produced manually on a drawing board and using CAD software.
Pupils will also be taught how to render and illustrate using coloured pencil and marker pen.
Pupils will use 3D modelling software to create models and produce 2D production drawings from the models.
In this element of the course, pupils are taught how to sketch and drawing pictorial views of objects using a range of methods, both manually and using computer aided drawings packages.
In National 4 pupils will undertake an added value unit and National 5 pupils will undertake an assignment. This work will allow pupils to demonstrate an application of knowledge and skills using both 2D Graphic Communication and 3D and Pictorial Graphic Communication. The added value unit is a pass or fail at National 4 and at National 5 is worth 33% of the course award. The exam question paper is also worth 67% of the course award.
